The Lows of Commercial Radio, and why I hate Kyle Sandilands…

Oh, Kyle. How I’ve never liked you.

Your “holier-than-thou” attitude is probably what gets me the worse. I luckily live in a town that doesn’t get his radio show. My first “experience” to the idiots that are Kyle and Jackie was the Frenzal Rhomb debacle. Jackie got ridiculed on stage by the boys which made her sook and cry on radio the next. Big deal, that’s happened before and will happen again to countless celebrities. It was when Kyle started to say “you’re finished on radio. we’ll never play you again on Austereo!” (where Jay hillariously points out – they never played Frenzal on commerical radio!). But anyways. Jay and Lindsay got a Triple J job, and Kyle continued to make a cock of himself.

Oh yeah, the thuggery. That’s at least amusing. Kyle gets off threatening to bash anyone who even remotely disses the dickhead, at least I can get some giggles out of that. Like he’s even in shape at all to even try something like that. :P

Today he takes the assholery (is that a word?) to a new level -

Taken from The ABC News site -

The NSW Department of Community Services is investigating a commercial radio stunt this morning, which ended in a 14-year-old girl admitting she had been raped.

The incident occurred on 2DayFM’s Kyle and Jackie O show, when a mother rang in to get her daughter to take part in a lie detector test about her experiences with sex and drugs.

After initially sounding uncomfortable with the questioning, the girl started crying and said she had been raped when she was 12.

Then Kyle Sandilands replied: “Right … is that the only experience you’ve had?”

Excuse my language here, but WHO IN THE FUCK says something as stupid as that? Kyle – don’t put rape in the same “experience” as normal sex. It is a violent act, a crime. They are not the same at all.

The mother is just as bad to blame, but as soon as the poor girl started to talk about it, the feed should of been cut, gone to a song and that should of been the end of it. In fact, getting a 14 year old on the radio to talk about her sex life in the first place? Didn’t that ring any alarm bells before the fact in the first place? And this wasn’t an impromptu thing – they got this girl into the studio and hooked her up to a lie detector machine!

Jackie is a ditzy bitch, but at least she had the common sense to cut the interview at that point. I have this terrible feeling that if she were not there, it would of gone on longer than that.

People go on about the Chaser and the occasional bad move they make with some of their stunts. Yes, the “Make a realistic wish” skit was in poor taste, but it pales in comparison to this poor girls trauma. The sad thing is too, it’s Commercial Radio. What can you do? “Our Taxes” as the easily offended wankers put it, aren’t involved here. Hopefully the sponsors of the show realise that the bad publicity outweighs the gossip and attention these two will be getting for the next few weeks.

Trusting them though, it will be business as usual soon enough. I mean look at Russell Brand….

About the Stewart / Cramer clip…

March 14th, 2009 tmofee No comments

I just want to say something about the whole Jon Stewart vs. Jim Cramer debate that was on the Daily show. If you haven’t seen it already, here’s a clip.

Okay, I can understand why Stewart is pissed off. Cramer has fucked up time and time again with his financial advice. Flat out contradicting himself. The question is, why isn’t Jon Stewart yelling at the viewers for falling for that bullshit in the first place??

Steps for a successful Cramer -

1 – Stick expert on his name
2 – Give him some fancy advertising/tv show/sound effects
3 – Ensure the watchers that longevity = experience

You trust this raving man with your financial future?? What the fuck??

There’s so many people in this world who are quite happy to be sheep, and not question anything. “This guy’s going to make me rich!!” If it were that easy, wouldn’t we all be rich?? I’m not saying Cramer is out to rip everyone off but let’s be honest. He’s an average guy who’s been around and knows a little bit more than the majority of us laymen. That still doesn’t mean you should risk your retirement years with him.

The sad thing is, he’s not that much to blame. He’s been put in front of a camera and told to go wild. He’s not the one who makes the “IN CRAMER WE TRUST” ads (to be fair, Stewart says the same things..) I bet you any money that CNBC forced Cramer on the show. It’s just with all this exposure thanks to Comedy Central, the man is going to take the fall. Do I feel sorry for the guy? Not much. I don’t like him, but he doesn’t deserve this backlash. Hopefully it will make him think twice before talking next time Mad Money is on the tv…
